Malaysia’s women’s doubles stars Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah have made history by winning the Denmark Open, ending the country’s 18-year wait for a title in the event.

The world No. 5 Malaysians defeated Japan’s Hinata Suzuki and Nao Yamakita 21-18, 21-11 in just 36 minutes in the World Tour Super 750 final in Odense. They controlled the match in straight games to secure their second World Tour title of the year.
Malaysia’s previous women’s doubles champions were Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui, who lifted the trophy in 2008. Pearly and Thinaah have now become only the second Malaysian pair to win the women’s doubles crown in the tournament’s 90-year history.
The victory is a major boost for the duo after Pearly’s injury forced her to miss two months of action earlier this year. Having already won the Indonesia Masters in January, they have now added another major title and strengthened their push for a place at the season-ending World Tour Finals.
