Alexis Sanchez Joins CF Montreal in MLS Move

Former Manchester United, Barcelona and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has joined CF Montreal on a deal running through at least the 2027 season.

The 37-year-old Chilean arrives in MLS after spending last season with La Liga side Sevilla, adding considerable experience to a Montreal team currently struggling near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

“I’m very happy to join CF Montreal and take on this new challenge,” Sanchez said. “I’m eager to put my experience to work so that we can reach our objectives and create memorable moments for our supporters.”

Sanchez enjoyed a highly decorated career in Europe, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey with Barcelona, two FA Cups with Arsenal and multiple domestic honours with Inter Milan.

At international level, he was a key figure in Chile’s historic Copa America triumphs in 2015 and 2016.

Montreal senior director Luca Saputo believes Sanchez’s leadership and winning mentality can make an immediate difference both on and off the pitch as the club looks to turn its season around.
