Bruno Fernandes has rejected Manchester United’s first proposal for a new contract, although the captain’s preference remains to stay at Old Trafford.
According to Fabrizio Romano, talks are still ongoing, but salary and the length of the new deal remain key issues that must be resolved before an agreement can be reached.
Fernandes is entering the final year of his current contract, with United holding an option to extend it. The club considers him a crucial part of Michael Carrick’s plans and has no intention of selling him this summer, despite interest from Galatasaray and other European clubs.
United will now need to find a compromise with their captain — especially if they want to keep their most important creator at Old Trafford long-term.
