Carrick Insists Man United Are “Not That Far Away” from 2028 Premier League Title Target

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick believes the club are closer to challenging for the Premier League title than recent results suggest, despite their difficult start to the season.

United’s “Project 150” plan, introduced by chief executive Omar Berrada, targets a Premier League title by 2028, coinciding with the club’s 150th anniversary. However, United have struggled for consistency, raising questions over whether the ambitious target remains realistic.

Carrick urged fans to keep perspective, pointing to United’s improvement after he took charge in January and their eventual third-place finish last season. He acknowledged that winning the league would require a significant step forward, but insisted the club were still capable of making progress quickly.

“I think the goal, being at this football club, the goal is always to win,” Carrick said, adding that he personally had no fixed deadline. He believes United must focus on turning their results around and building towards sustained success rather than becoming consumed by negativity.
