Former Manchester United striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has defended Michael Carrick, questioning why some of his former teammates have been so critical of the United manager.

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, Hernandez said he was surprised by the criticism aimed at Carrick, insisting the former midfielder deserves more respect for the work he has done since taking charge at Old Trafford. He praised Carrick’s football knowledge, leadership and clear vision for the team.
Hernandez argued that criticism from ex-players can become excessive and should be more constructive, especially when directed at someone who gave so much to Manchester United as both a player and now a manager.
Carrick has guided United back into the UEFA Champions League and is looking to build on that success ahead of the new season. Hernandez believes the club should unite behind its manager rather than undermine him with constant public criticism.
