China asserted its badminton supremacy at the China Open on Sunday, sweeping four gold and four silver medals in a commanding performance just weeks before the 2025 World Championships.

In an all-Chinese men’s singles final, Shi Yuqi came from behind to defeat surprise finalist Wang Zhengxing 14-21, 21-14, 21-15. The victory marked Shi’s fourth title of the season and a historic sweep of all four BWF Super 1000 titles.
“I’ve never done well here because of the drafty conditions,” Shi said. “I’m happy to finally break through.”
In the women’s singles, Wang Zhiyi defended her crown with a dominant 21-8, 21-13 win over Han Yue, using precision and aggression to take control early.
“I had recurring low fever all week and battled negative thoughts,” Wang revealed. “Reaching the final was pure willpower.”
China’s doubles strength was on full display with two more golds. In mixed doubles, top seeds Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping edged Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin 23-21, 21-17. In the women’s doubles, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning prevailed in a tight 69-minute battle over Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian, 24-22, 17-21, 21-14, to claim their third straight title.
The only non-Chinese gold came in the men’s doubles, where Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri defeated Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 21-15, 21-14 in just 35 minutes.
China’s strong showing solidifies its position as the nation to beat heading into next month’s World Championships.
