Ferrari’s D’Ambrosio Reflects on Camara’s Dominant F3 Season and Bright Future

Rafael Camara’s 2025 FIA Formula 3 campaign was nothing short of dominant. With five pole positions, four Feature Race victories, and clinching the championship two rounds early, the Brazilian driver left no doubt about his potential.

His rookie season featured numerous standout moments, with his title-sealing performance in Budapest standing out as a clear highlight. Facing his first chance to secure the championship, the TRIDENT driver delivered a strong last-minute qualifying lap to claim a record-extending fifth pole position and carried that momentum through to a decisive win.

Ferrari’s Deputy Team Principal and Head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, Jerome D’Ambrosio, was full of praise for Camara after the Budapest weekend, describing the season as nearly flawless.

“Honestly, I don’t think we could have hoped for better,” D’Ambrosio said. “He started the season strongly and stayed composed even during the more challenging moments. Today’s race captured that perfectly—wet conditions on a slippery track while fighting for the title. It would have been easy to make a mistake, but Rafa stayed on the limit while maintaining control. He knew when to push and when to build a gap. That level of decision-making shows real maturity.”

Camara has been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022. Since joining, he has never finished a single-seater season outside of the top five, only missing out on a top-three result once. His F3 title follows his 2024 championship win in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

According to D’Ambrosio, Camara has made consistent progress year after year, with his recent titles proving just how far he’s come as both a driver and a professional.

“When you have a talent like Rafa, it might sound tough, but this is what you expect to see,” D’Ambrosio added. “Our responsibility is to give him the right support so he can fully showcase and maximise his abilities.”
