Gonzalo Garcia Header Sends Real Madrid to Club World Cup Quarter-Finals

Real Madrid edged past Juventus 1-0 at Hard Rock Stadium to secure a spot in the Club World Cup quarter-finals. Gonzalo Garcia’s header in the 54th minute, off a precise cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, proved the difference. Kylian Mbappe made his tournament debut as a second-half substitute after recovering from illness.

Juventus threatened early through Randal Kolo Muani and Kenan Yildiz, but Madrid gradually took control, with Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde testing Michele Di Gregorio. Despite late pressure from Juventus, including chances for Francisco Conceicao and Nicolas Gonzalez, Madrid held on.

Manager Xabi Alonso praised his side’s maturity and confirmed Mbappe is expected to play a bigger role in the next round against either Dortmund or Monterrey. Juventus boss Igor Tudor blamed fatigue and difficult conditions for the loss.
