Lee Zii Jia has alarmed fans after sharing a series of dark, unsettling illustrations on Instagram, prompting concern over his mental and emotional well-being.
The 27-year-old shuttler, currently sidelined with a foot injury, posted 10 graphic images, including one of a stitched, faceless figure holding a bloodied needle and another showing a person impaled by sharp objects with an exposed brain.
The post comes during Zii Jia’s recovery break, having last competed in March at the Orleans Masters and All-England. He has since applied for a protected ranking from the BWF, as his world standing has dropped to No. 27.
