Man Wei Chong says he and partner Tee Kai Wun are prioritizing consistent performance over chasing titles as they gear up for the Japan and China Open tournaments this month.

The 25-year-old, who has already claimed two titles this year, believes staying focused on their game is key to easing pressure and achieving good results. “If we perform well, the results will follow. That’s the mindset we’re taking into the second half of the year,” he said during a training session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara.
Reflecting on their semi-final defeat to Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani at the recent Indonesia Open, Wei Chong acknowledged it was a valuable experience in dealing with intense home crowd support.
Earlier this year, Wei Chong and Kai Wun won the Indonesia Masters and the Malaysia Masters. National doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi has set the target for them to clinch at least one title in the upcoming tournaments.
The Japan Open is set for July 15–20 in Tokyo, followed by the China Open from July 22–27 in Changzhou.
