Manchester City are still expected to pursue Enzo Fernández, despite failing to meet Chelsea’s initial £120 million deadline for a bid.

Chelsea had given City until August 14 to make an offer, but no bid arrived. The Blues subsequently expected the Argentina midfielder to remain at Stamford Bridge for the season.
However, City’s interest has not disappeared. With Rodri now at Barcelona, Enzo Maresca is keen to strengthen his midfield, and Fernández remains one of City’s preferred targets.
City are also completing other deals, including the sale of Nico González to Newcastle, which could help generate funds for a late move.
Chelsea’s £120m valuation remains a major obstacle, but with the transfer window still open until September 1, the Fernández saga is far from over.
City missed the deadline — but they haven’t given up on Enzo.
