Manchester United superfan Frank Ilett, better known as “The United Strand”, has reached a remarkable milestone after attending 100 matches without cutting his hair.

Ilett launched his unusual challenge on October 5, 2024, promising not to get a haircut until United won five consecutive matches in all competitions. What began as a light-hearted idea has turned into a viral story, with millions following his increasingly long locks.
The 29-year-old has now gone more than 743 days without a haircut, watching the club go through five managerial changes involving Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ruben Amorim, Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick.
Carrick came closest to ending the challenge after United won four matches in a row, including victories over Manchester City and Arsenal. However, a 1-1 draw against West Ham stopped their winning run, leaving Ilett waiting for another chance to finally visit the barber.
With United still struggling to put together the required five straight wins, Ilett’s hair has become an unlikely symbol of the club’s inconsistency.
Will Manchester United finally win five games in a row and give The United Strand his long-awaited haircut, or will this challenge continue for another season?
