Max Verstappen Raises Concerns Over Mexico GP Race Pace

Max Verstappen admitted his race pace is a “big concern” despite topping Friday’s Free Practice 2 ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The Red Bull star, who has won three of the last four races, was quickest on soft tyres but struggled badly on longer runs. “The balance wasn’t even off, there was just no grip,” Verstappen said. “As soon as you go on a sustainable run, tyres are going hot. We were nowhere.”

With new upgrades on his RB21, Verstappen enters the weekend 40 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri but warned that one-lap speed won’t be enough: “You’re not going to win the race just by being fast over one lap.”
