Real Madrid advanced to the Club World Cup semi-finals with a tense 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund at MetLife Stadium. Gonzalo and Fran Garcia struck early to give Madrid a 2-0 lead, with Gonzalo volleying in from Arda Guler’s cross and Garcia finishing off a slick move involving Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Madrid controlled most of the game, with Bellingham, Vinicius Jr., and Tchouameni all coming close to extending the lead. However, the match erupted in stoppage time.
Dortmund pulled one back through Maximilian Beier in the 93rd minute, but Kylian Mbappe immediately restored the two-goal cushion with a brilliant volley.
A late twist came when Serhou Guirassy was fouled in the box by Dean Huijsen, who was sent off. Guirassy converted the penalty, and only a superb save by Thibaut Courtois in the 99th minute denied Dortmund an equalizer.
“We were in control, but the last 10 minutes were wild,” said Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.
Madrid now prepare for a semi-final showdown with PSG, while Fluminense and Chelsea battle in the other half of the draw.
