Saudi Arabia unveils plans for world’s first ‘Sky Stadium’

Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to build the world’s first ‘sky stadium’, an ultra-modern sports venue suspended high above ground level.

Dubbed the NEOM Stadium, the futuristic structure is expected to hold 46,000 spectators at an altitude of 350 metres, making it taller than London’s The Shard by 40 metres.

An AI-generated concept video of the project has gone viral, showing the stadium perched dramatically atop a skyscraper, sparking global fascination online.

The venue is part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious preparations for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, with construction originally slated to begin in 2027 and completion targeted for 2032.

Initially envisioned to sit atop NEOM’s proposed mega-city ‘The Line’, the latest concept appears to place the stadium on a more conventional tower — though the futuristic vision remains just as bold.
