Alex Pereira casts doubt over UFC White House appearance

Alex Pereira has raised questions about whether he will feature on the highly anticipated UFC White House card scheduled for June.

Despite UFC CEO Dana White repeatedly stating that matchmaking for the historic event will not begin until at least February, the reigning light heavyweight champion appears unconvinced he will be part of the lineup. On Monday, Pereira posted a photo with White on Instagram, accompanied by a brief message suggesting he is unlikely to compete at the event set for June 14 on the White House lawn.

“Looks like the White House is a no go,” Pereira wrote, without offering further details.

Pereira has openly pushed for a blockbuster clash with Jon Jones on the White House card, which is being planned as part of President Donald Trump’s celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary. Jones, who briefly retired after declining a fight with Tom Aspinall, has since announced his intention to return and has expressed strong interest in facing Pereira at the event.

However, those plans appear uncertain. White has publicly admitted he is hesitant to rely on Jones for such a high-profile card, citing the former heavyweight champion’s history of issues that have previously disrupted scheduled bouts.

Pereira’s apparent exclusion may indicate that the UFC is planning a title defense for him before June. The Brazilian reclaimed the light heavyweight belt with a decisive finish over Magomed Ankalaev in October, avenging a loss suffered seven months earlier.

In recent weeks, speculation has linked Pereira to a possible title fight against rising contender Carlos Ulberg in early 2026. Ulberg is riding a nine-fight winning streak, with notable victories over Dominick Reyes, Jan Blachowicz and Volkan Oezdemir.

If that matchup materializes, it could explain why Pereira believes he will not be competing on the UFC White House card.
