Carrick Fires Back at Anderson’s “Kings of Manchester” Claim

Michael Carrick has laughed off Elliot Anderson’s bold claim that Manchester City are the “Kings of Manchester” ahead of Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.

Anderson, who joined City from Nottingham Forest for £116m this summer after United refused to match the deal, said City had been the dominant force in Manchester for as long as he could remember.

Carrick refused to use the same phrase, but admitted United must be realistic about the recent gap between the two clubs. Still, he believes his side are improving after securing a return to the Champions League.

Now comes the perfect chance to prove it.

City may have been the kings lately — but can Carrick’s United take back the crown at Old Trafford?
