VAR Error Leaves United Furious After Derby Defeat

Manchester United were left furious after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, with a controversial VAR decision now at the centre of the fallout.

Erling Haaland’s 60th-minute goal was initially ruled offside before VAR overturned the decision. However, refereeing body Pro Ref has since admitted the VAR team made an error, saying they failed to properly consider the impact of Enzo Fernandez’s offside position.

The decision proved decisive, especially as City had played with 10 men for more than an hour following Phil Foden’s red card. United had chances to equalise but failed to take them, leaving Michael Carrick frustrated with both the officiating and his side’s missed opportunities.

United lost the derby. VAR admitted a mistake. And City walked away with all three points.
