Cristiano Ronaldo has received another major recognition, with fans voting his 2008 Ballon d’Or-winning season as the greatest in the award’s history.

The Portuguese superstar won the inaugural Ballon d’Or of his career in 2008 while playing for Manchester United, after a phenomenal season in which he helped the club win the Premier League and Champions League.
Ronaldo went on to claim four more Ballon d’Or trophies in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017, all during his time at Real Madrid. His five awards place him among the most decorated players in the history of the prestigious individual honour.
The new B.O.A.T. (Best of All Time) recognition celebrates the greatest Ballon d’Or-winning season, with France Football users selecting Ronaldo’s 2008 campaign through an online vote.
Was Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2008 season truly the greatest Ballon d’Or-winning campaign ever, or does Lionel Messi have a season that deserves the honour instead?
