Liverpool’s Diogo Jota Dies in Car Crash at 28

Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota has died at the age of 28 following a car crash in Zamora, near Spain’s northwest border with Portugal. The accident, which occurred around 12:30am local time on Thursday, also claimed the life of his brother, Andre Felipe.

The tragedy happened just days after Jota married his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, who was left to identify both victims.

Jota began his career with Pacos de Ferreira and later played for Atletico Madrid, Porto, and Wolverhampton Wanderers before joining Liverpool in 2020. He made 182 appearances and scored 65 goals for the Reds.
