Ousmane Dembélé wins 2025 Ballon d’Or ahead of Lamine Yamal

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner, beating Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal by what organisers described as a “wide margin.”

France Football’s editor-in-chief Vincent Garcia confirmed that the vote was decisive in Dembélé’s favour after a spectacular 2024/25 campaign. The 28-year-old produced the best season of his career, scoring 35 goals and providing 16 assists as he spearheaded PSG’s historic treble-winning season.

Yamal, just 18, had an outstanding year of his own, helping Barcelona claim a domestic treble under Hansi Flick. However, despite his 18 goals and 25 assists, the teenager fell short in the final Ballon d’Or standings.

Speaking after the ceremony, Garcia underlined the scale of Dembélé’s triumph:

“There was no match. Ousmane won it by a wide margin. On all continents, Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or is clear and straightforward. It’s a Ballon d’Or that is authoritative for our judges.”

The victory marks the first Ballon d’Or of Dembélé’s career, cementing his place among the game’s elite after years of inconsistency and injury setbacks.
